MASTERCLASS: ADHD, PTSD, BURNOUT OR STRESS?

It looked like that scene from the 6th Sense… you know the one where Toni Collette comes into the kitchen to see her kid standing there with every cupboard door and drawer wide open. 

(side note, if you just found yourself wanting to google that scene instead of finishing this email - this is most definitely for you… #noshame #me too 😘)

Well that was me, except it wasn't a ghost that did this to my kitchen - it was me, and truth be told, I was absolutely baffled

I mean how could I not realise that I had been opening doors and drawers as I prepared dinner, yet not followed up with the natural next step of closing them?

Then, there was the brain fog and short term memory loss I was experiencing…walking into a room and forgetting why I was there just seconds later.

Becoming emotionally triggered and overwhelmed by everything from noise, to clutter.

Then, after watching a fb reel that showed a neuro-typical woman changing her bed, versus a woman with adhd, I felt so seen and the spiritual enquiry began…

You see, the neuro-typical woman simply changed the sheets and then walked out the room, her task completed; whilst the neuro-divergent woman moved a book that wasn't meant to be on her nightstand, took away a coffee cup, emptied the dishwasher; wandered through the house doing a million small tasks, whilst creating more disorder as she had forgotten what she was meant to be doing, eventually ending up crouched on the floor reading a magazine from 2019, completely wiped out, without actually changing the bed… 🙄 

“Isn't this just being a woman?”, I thought… turns out, no.

Then I started looking into ADHD symptoms and suddenly my whole life made sense.

However, as a trauma informed practitioner who recognises these same symptoms in my clients who were facing challenges, I also recognised that at that time, I too was coming out of one of the most challenging chapters of my life, so I paused the desire for a diagnosis and asked myself - is this ADHD, PTSD, BURNOUT OR STRESS?

It seems I am not alone in asking this burning question, which is why I am so excited to welcome Psychotherapist and author, Lianne Terry to the Moonphase Journey Sisterhood this month to share how ADHD, PTSD, BURNOUT AND STRESS show up for women and how it is often missed in girls; along with tips to manage symptoms and hack our lives, homes and brains 🙌
